I just got home from dinner and a quick grocery touch-up. In both cases the cashiers were young men. Almost always, in the past, they would have been women.

We're starting to see more females than males graduating high school and going on to successful college completion. I suppose that the next generation, or the one after, will be expecting primarily males to be scanning boxes of eggs and punching cash registers, as we once expected to see females in that role. We're probably close to 50-50 male/female in those jobs now or soon. Even now, I notice that the pointedly politically-correct Wegmans is highly biased toward male cashiers. Eventually these will be male careers.
