A friend of mine once mentioned, in passing, his distaste for sentences that begin with the word "And". And that got me to thinking.

Beginning sentences with "Furthermore" has never been a problem. What's the difference between that and "And"? There's no difference, except that in the use of "Furthermore", we typically see a comma that separates the conjunction from the actual sentence. I guess if we started to use the comma with the word "And", we'd be okay.

And, that looks pretty legit, doesn't it?
