Have you ever had a driver carelessly, thoughtlessly, or defiantly pull out in front of you -- and you notice that the part of his car that you would have bashed if you weren't on the ball has already been bashed a couple times?

I see it pretty regularly. It happens often enough so that the practice ought to have some name in the science of psychology. Of course we can't presume a motivation, you never can. We can't presume that he cares what his car looks like. Maybe he has a generous insurance company. Maybe he just likes to meet people, like people wanted to meet poor Marilyn.
