Chapter 10

Doesn't being a slimeball carry a high mental overhead?

Every time you do anything, you have to calculate how to try to bend the situation to your advantage, how much you can bend it without losing the cooperation of the people that you're dealing with, what you can get away with, what you told whom and what you will do if they find out otherwise.

It sounds like a game but it sounds like a lot of work too.

This is a repeat, but a worthy one:

You can't fight an evil person. Evil people want to be evil and they always will be evil and they will persist until they hurt you because that's what they do.. You can only avoid them.

Or kill them, of course, but that usually brings unpleasant complications.
