The world that you live in is configured by bad people. And here's why:
The definitions of a society lie in its laws, and every law is a response to some bad person doing some bad thing. If there were no bad persons, there would be no laws.
Consequently, the structural template of society is constructed following the guidance of bad people doing bad things.
I was a college advisor for a while, and of course the kids were all annoyed by the "rules". In the same way that adults, some of them, think that there are too many laws.
Well, in the Garden of Eden, there was only one law. And Adam and Eve were able to screw up anyway.
Any society begins with very few rules. Then some bad person comes along and does something bad, and the people have to make a rule against whatever it was that he did. Then another bad person comes along and does something bad and the people have to make a rule against whatever it was that he did. And again and again and again.
Of course this only works toward the good until bad people get into power, and start passing laws requiring their friends to do whatever bad things that they want to do. This is why you have to listen to the local media on both the liberal and conservative sides, presuming that you have good local media*. The two sides will be blowing the whistle on each other, and you'll always hear news on one side that the other side tried to keep away from you.
People in government are even worse than you think that they are.
