We're seeing in the news stories about parents letting their kids walk home from school or play in the back yard, and having the police throw them in jail and taking the kids away.

No, this is not a joke. It is actually happening.

We can call this the criminalization of self-reliance. In our youth, parents wanted their kids to go out unsupervised. Now the poor dears can't go to the mailbox without parental supervision, and of course the evil social puppeteers expect them to carry that dependency throughout their lives.

Because you can't be a good evil dictator without passive and dependent subjects.
