Chapter 23

I've always been on the alert when lazy people adopt abbreviations that change the meaning of what they are saying.

The lady at the doctor's office asks for my social. What social? "Social" is not a thing, it's an adjective. The word is meaningless without an object.

As is the word "Healthcare" in the term "Healthcare Insurance". People say that you need to have "healthcare" but that's not what they're talking about. What they're talking about is "healthcare insurance" which is a whole different thing.

Except that these people aren't lazy, they're dishonest. They say that everyone should have healthcare, but that's not what they mean.

What they mean is that everyone should be forced under the power of law to purchase expensive insurance from powerful corporations -- corporations that were powerful enough to tell the government to pass laws requiring people to purchase expensive insurance.
